It may seem that the formation of stretch marks on the skin during pregnancy can't be prevented but there are actually some ways on how to minimize its occurrence. Those who are gaining weight rapidly during pregnancy may experience more marks than those who gained weight within the accepted range. There are some women who may develop stretch marks in the hidden parts of their body while some women would develop the marks in the obvious areas of their body such as the legs. Apparently, having such skin marks is aesthetically unpleasant which can only result to frustration and lowered self-esteem.
If you want to minimize the occurrence of the stretch marks on your skin, there are some ways on how to minimize them. The most important thing that one should do is to keep the skin hydrated. Hydrating the skin is very important because it will help in preventing bruising and stretch marks. The best way to hydrate your skin is to drink adequate amount of water every day. Health experts suggest drinking at least eight glasses of water every day.
Aside from drinking water, skin care experts also suggested to apply natural oils in order to lock the moisture in the skin. This means, the oils can seal in the moisture and prevent your skin from drying up. You can apply the natural oils after you have taken a bath to seal in the moisture.
There are also topical retinoids which can be applied to the skin. These topical retinoids help in minimizing the appearance of stretch marks because it can stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is a protein that is produced in the body. It is a very important component of the skin but the ceases to produce it as we grow older. Therefore, stimulating the production of collagen can minimize the occurrence of stretch marks.
