How to Print From An iPad
If you are one of the people lucky enough to have an iPad you are probably thrilled with how amazingly versatile your device is. Unfortunately, one of the few things that has frustrated iPad users is the difficulty in finding a way to easily print using the tablet device. Until Apple decides to make printing a priority in their operating system that runs the iPad, there isn't going to be too many easy ways for the owner of the device to print.
However there are currently several apps and Apple's app store that can help you get the job done better and in turn make your iPad more versatile than it already is by giving you easier access to printing. The first app available that comes to mind is Canon's easy photo print application. Canon's easy photo print was actually designed for the iPhone but runs very well on the iPad and will give you the ability to print photos on a wide array of Canon printers.
The app store also has many third-party applications that boast giving you the ability to print although many of these applications are shoddy or simply do not work at all. Print bureau costs around $13 and the application searches your network for any shared printers that may be on the network unfortunately, during testing the application was not able to print to all printers and it was a crapshoot on whether or not you could successfully print each and every time. There are patches available for this program but even when the patches are used it hardly makes iPad printing a simple reliable and easy task.
An application that was also tested with a little bit more success was available in the apps store under the title air sharing HD. For around $10 this application has many features that will help you move and share files using your iPad. A testing group for Mac life magazine use this application to connect to a WiFi printer and had a mixed bag of results.
It seems like until Apple comes up with a better solution, right now the best way to print from an iPad is to e-mail the document yourself open up on another computer and print from there. It's hard to believe that Apple would leave this major hole in their platform for very long so be on the lookout for new applications that will make printing easier, however we recommend avoiding third-party applications because until Apple solves this problem the fix you purchase will probably not be reliable.
