How to Raise Champions

Children are our future. What about your child? Do you see him or her as a great student with a world of potential? Or, do you see your child asaverage? How hurtful it would be to tell a child that he or she is average? Or, that the childs life will never amount to anything special. You would never dream of such a thing, right? However, how much time do you actually take to assure your child, your future champion, that he is special? That she is something out of the ordinary? Probably not enough. After all, everyday your child is being exposed to mediocrity at school. He or she is probably being told on a regular basis that they are ordinary. Peer pressure can be relentless. Children are often told by their friends that they are physically and intellectually inferior to the crowd. They are also harassed and even browbeaten by bullies, competing students, older students and perhaps even teachers who are only considering academic grades. Then you have to consider the corrupting influence of television and movies, which perpetuate stereotypes and condescends our young people.

This is a lot of pressure on a youthful mind, and so is all the more reason to take your parenting obligations seriously. Make sure that you are providing the antidote for all of this negative energy on a recurring basis. Talk to your child. Assure him that he is capable of anything he sets his mind to. Explain to her that she must never stop dreaming and following her ambitions. Foster a loving and supportive home that encourages children to follow their personal and scholastic pursuits. Do not pressure a child to follow a set path determined by you, because there will always be resistance to such pushing and prodding. Instead, encourage your child to aim high and to challenge him or her self to reach a pinnacle of success. If you foster this supportive atmosphere, eventually your child will start to see the differences between his environment and the one at school. Your child may even realize the advantage that he or she has over other children at school, the ones who are never encouraged to think outside the box and achieve something beyond ordinary. Reward your child generously and spare him or her excessive discipline. In the end, your child will become a natural born champion because he or she loves the work. Thats the sign of a true champion!About the Author:
