The particles are held in the cartridge until such time as the filter is changed or cleaned. You can simply hose off cartridge type pool filters to clean it all through the swimming season. In addition, you can soak the cartridge in detergent.
Diatomaceous Earth Pool Filters
These types of pool filters are known as DE pool filters. The structure on the inside is similar to cartridge type pool filter but is filled with diatomaceous earth rather than polyester cartridges. Diatomaceous earth is a powder that is composed of the skeleton of plankton which has fossilized that do a good job of holding the dirt together. DE pool filters clean the best of all pool filters, but they are more expensive and require more maintenance than the cartridge types of pool filters.
Sand Pool Filters
Sand pool filters use sand to trap and catch dirt. Most of these types of pool filters use pool sand that is very fine. The water enters sand pool filters from the pool pump and is then released onto the sand and the dirt is trapped there by the sharp edges of the sand. Then, the water is released at the pump and finally sent back into the swimming pool. Sand pool filters aren't as effective as the other two models. . . . . . . .
