Your wife cheated on you and now you're facing Christmas and the start of a new year without your wife in your life. As angry and hurt as you are over her cheating, this is not the way you had envisioned your marriage ending. In fact, you had envisioned a long marriage ending only after many years with rocking chairs and watching grandchildren playing at your feet.

Well, guess what? You get to write the ending for your marriage. If you don't like the way this one is looking it's time to get back to the drawing board and come up with one that you and your cheating wife might like better.

Before you get started you need to understand that men and women cheat for different reasons. You might have a bigger fight on your hands to get your cheating wife back than a woman in this situation would have. That doesn't mean that you're fighting an impossible battle or facing insurmountable odds. It just means that you're going to have to really be willing to fight for it in order to get the results you're wishing for.

So, how do you stop this divorce and save your marriage by Christmas when the clock is tick-tocking right along?

First, you ignore the clock. That will only create a false sense of urgency that could lead to desperate actions that will sabotage your efforts completely. Stop adding the pressure to succeed right this very minute that you don't need at a time like this. The holidays are coming and the new year is a frightening thought to face alone but when you take your time and do things right you can get fast results without fear driving your efforts.

Second, you create a compelling argument of all the reasons why your marriage deserves a second chance. There are plenty of reasons your marriage could weather this storm and many more after it. You might have to sit down and create a list of all the reasons there are. Once you have this list, be sure to share it with your wife and see if she has a few points of her own to add to it.

Finally, you show your wife all the reasons she has to love you. It doesn't take expensive gifts, trips around the world, or enough flowers to start your own flower shop. But, you do need to make the case for working on your marriage together to make it stronger than it's ever been before.
