After your spouse has cheated, it is hard to figure out what you are going to do next. Surviving an affair can be awfully difficult and sometimes it is hard to know what you should do. When your spouse has been unfaithful, you don't know what to do next and you need some help. You need to learn how to survive an affair.

The first step that you need to take is you need to figure out if your marriage is worth salvaging. You need to find out the reason behind your spouse's affair. If your spouse slipped up once and they made an honest mistake, then perhaps it is worth forgiving them for it. If they felt as though you were ignoring them and that they weren't getting enough from you and they slipped up, then forgiveness can be given to them. Everyone is capable of making mistakes and if the affair happened once and only with one person, then maybe you can still save your marriage.

People cheat for different reasons and you need to figure out why your spouse cheated on you. If your spouse cheated on you because you were neglecting their needs and you weren't satisfying them sexually, emotionally and socially then that is understandable. Of course it is never okay for anyone to cheat, but when someone is that starved for attention, they have to get it from somewhere else. If your spouse cheated on you with more than one person and it happened more than once, then their reasoning is far greater than a feeling of neglect.

Sometimes you cannot survive an affair because there is no reason to save anything. If your spouse is a serial cheater and they have cheated on you in the past, then chances are they are never going to change. If your spouse betrayed you to this extent, then you need to stop the marriage dead in its tracks to save yourself from future heartache.

If you are going to go through and save your marriage, then surviving an affair takes two of you. You aren't going to get through infidelity if only one of you wants to make things work. Plus, if you are going to do this, you have to put the past behind you. You cannot keep bringing the affair up and to use it as ammo in a fight. If you are going to do your best to get through this cheating episode, you had better be prepared to forget all about it and to move on.
