How to Tell if Green Carpet Care Is Really Green

How to Tell if Green Carpet Care Is Really Green

A number of companies claim to have environmentally safe carpet cleaning, but I recently learned when I needed carpet cleaningfor my home that there's a real difference between cleaners that say they're green and companies that really are. The first one I called claimed to have "all natural" chemicals, and claimed they were safe. I played $199 for them to clean my carpets, but I wasn't happy. The chemicals smelled horrible and I had trouble breathing for days. Worse, the spots all came back. I really wanted to find greencarpet cleaning in Los Angeles

I complained but it was too much of a hassle to get my money back. I called another company after reading reviews on line. From what I could gather, they were the best reviewed of all the companies offering environmentally safe carpet cleaning in Los Angeles. I was very angry with the first company, and I wasn't as kind as I should have been when I spoke to the new company. Nevertheless, they were patient with me and they spurred me to do a great deal of research on what it means to really begreen.

Essentially, I learned that there's actually a certification for truly green companies. The cleaning products with this certification are called the "Green Seal Certified." Without that certification, there's no real way to tell what a company means when it claims to be "green." When a company uses products with the seal, you know the chemicals are really environmentally safe. Green is more than just a color when this seal is present.

There's another certification you should know about, the International Janatorial Cleaning Services Association GreenCleaning Company Certification. This certification means an outside agency has trained and tested technicians to ensure they practice environmentally safe policies. Without this certification, anyone could claim to be environmentally sound, but you'll never really know for sure.

I was lucky enough to find carpet cleaning in Los Angeles that had both certifications. If you want to do your part to keep the environment safe for our future, make sure your carpet cleaner has the right qualifications as well! If we all do our part, more companies will get the message and the companies that aren't green will be the exception instead of the rule.
