Social media is content that is meant to be shared. It can come in the form of articles, blogs, video, white papers, newsletters, etc. On the other hand, social networking is the actual online communication with others.The Big 3LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitterare all hybrids because these tools share content and facilitate correspondence.One of the greatest benefits of social networking is you can literally participate from anywhere, as long as you have your laptop or a smartphone (Blackberry, iPhone, etc.) The idea behind social media marketing is to brand your business and keep your messages in front of your target audience so they'll contact you.There are some practical Dos for social networking:DO make connections with people that it makes sense to connect with. DO look for people who have similar interests. DO reply to personal messages that people send. DO understand how to use the social networking platform. DO say interesting, conversational things.
