How to Use a Single Wireless Net Connection on Multiple PCs
Today's cellular Internet providers have created a large network where Web access may be obtained from just about anywhere, including vehicles and RVs. When traveling with a group of people, not everyone may have a wireless Internet plan for access, in which case you may want to share your connection in a parking lot when everyone parks for the night. Or, you may simply want to share one wireless connection with multiple computers at home. Modern technology has once again pulled through for you, providing a viable and simple way of doing so.
Take each computer to a local computer technician and have a wireless LAN card installed if the machines don't already have one. Ask the technician to leave all encryption settings "OFF" so you may configure this yourself.
Consult your operating system owner's manual on how to access the network settings for your system. Browse to the network settings configuration console or screen on each computer.
Provide a unique network name for each of your computers and enter it into your system's "Computer Name" setting, or similar. While in this screen, set each computer to accept "DHCP Only" so the computers will receive an IP address from the wireless router on an as-needed basis. Click "Apply" and/or "OK" when finished with these settings, but leave the network settings screens open.
Plug in the wireless modem, supplied to you by your wireless carrier, into the EVDO router's "WAN" port.Plug the EVDO router's power cord into a nearby wall outlet and consult the router's manual to determine whether it is functioning normally per the manufacturer's instructions.
Check the power indicator light on your wireless modem to ensure the router is supplying it with power.Consult the router owner's manual to find the access information for the router you have selected, along with the default user name and password. To access the router's log-in screen, you will need the router's IP address it was given by the manufacturer.
Turn on a Web browser and enter the IP address of the router into your browser address window. For most wireless routers, this IP address will be 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.2.1 Check your router's manual for the IP address of your device.
USB 802.11N 150M WIRELESS LAN Adapter(RT3070 Chipset)(Support 64/128-bit WEP, complies with 128 bit WPA standard(TKIP/AES), supports MIC, IV Expansion, Shared Key Authentication, IEEE 802.1X )
Enter the default user name and password and click "Submit" in the browser screen to enter the router configuration settings. Set your router to DHCP mode and set "Broadcast Network ID" to "ON". Your router may also require your wireless internet provider's gateway IP address and log-in information for it to make use of your wireless modem. Enter that information while in the configuration settings. Click "Apply" or "OK" after making these changes but leave the router configuration screen open.
Select your desired security encryption method in your router's "Wireless Security" settings, or similar. Generally the choice will be either WPA or WAP. Configure a wireless security key and write the key down on a piece of paper and enter it into the wireless security settings of the networking consoles on each of your computers, making sure you select the same encryption type: WPA or WAP. Click "Apply" after making this change.USB 2.0 to DVI Adapter (QWXGA)
Enter the EVDO wireless modem's IP address into the "Gateway" text entry block in the network settings area of each computer so each machine knows how to access the router.
Click "Apply" and "Save" in the network configuration settings of each computer then exit. Click "Apply" and "Exit" in the router configuration screen. Reboot each of your computers and check that you have Internet access on each.
