For example the Tritton AX Pro gives you True 5.1 surround which gives incredible directional sound - perfect for hearing someone sneaking up on you on Halo Reach or Call of Duty. Whilst not giving you quite as good sound as a pair of high quality stereo headphones, the audio sound is still amazingly crisp and accurate - games sound truly alive.

In contrast you might choose to buy the Turtle Beach X41, which offers virtual 7.1 surround sound. The stereo headet, with large 50mm drivers create deep bass and amazing audio, which is instantly noticeable. When coupled with the dolby virtual surround gives impressive results. However, the directional accuracy is not as good as the true 5.1 Tritton AX Pro, however as a multimedia headset, the X41s are superb.
