When many people consider buying new or used furniture, they often consider the life span of their previous furniture. The reason they take this fact into consideration, is because whatever furniture they buy next they will want it to last longer than their previous furniture. Even if cheap bedroom furniture is bought it can last for a while depending upon how it is made and what materials it is made out of.

For most part, cheap furniture usually lasts for about 4-5 years, but there is a great chance that it can last a lot longer than that. Since most cheap bedroom furniture is made out of materials that are less sturdy and durable, the high end sellers get more of the benefit of selling their furniture because the quality is better. Even if high end furniture is damaged it is most likely easier to repair as opposed to cheaper furniture. You will know whether or not cheap furniture will last you for a good while by first looking at your living standards.

If you have young children it will most likely be harder to keep cheap furniture looking nice for a longer period of time. Most of the cheapest dresser sets are made out of particle board or veneer. Particle board can get easily scratched or the paper cover can get ripped off which is pretty much impossible to repair back to the way it was. If furniture that is made out of veneer gets any kind of spills on it then it will leave light spots or bubble spots on the furniture. Small children will most likely spill something on a veneer table. To prevent spills from ruining veneer furniture, you can buy some furniture protector plastic to cover it, or perhaps a thick table cloth.

The first thing that you will need to do to determine whether or not your cheap bedroom furniture will last you a while is by how heavy the material is. Any furniture that seems a bit light for the size is something that probably won't last for a good amount of time. If you know anything about the difference between particle board and real wood, then you should know that real wood weighs more than particle board. Just because a piece of furniture is made out of wood does not mean that it will be too expensive. There are different types of wood, and one of the cheapest that you can find is Pine wood. Though it is cheaper, it weighs more than particle board and will last you longer than the particle board furniture. Pine wood can be found in children's cheap bedroom furniture; it is still a decent quality material but it can get scratched easier than Mahogany wood or other expensive woods.

Something else to look for to determine whether your cheap furniture will last you for a while is whether it is held together by glue, staples, or dovetailing. You will find that dovetailing is used mostly with furniture that is made of high quality materials, and staples are used to put together bed room furniture that is of cheaper quality
