How to live in a democracy?

When the people of India conduct an introspection, they come to the conclusion that they could not learn the art of living in a democracy. They had been fighting for independence and they got it. They proposed democracy for themselves and they actually framed the present constitution of India and adopted the same on 26th January, 1950 and since they are declaring that they are democrats. But when we go in details, we come to the conclusion that we could not adopt the democratic way of life nor our administration is democracy. The concept of democracy had been defined as government of the people, by the people and for the people and when we go in detail, we see that the people who are governing us are not from amongst the people and therefore, they are not committed to work for the welfare of the people of India and that is the reason almost all who had been ruling us had been collecting money through scams, scandals, muddles, bribes and corruption and it must be accepted that they never acted as public servants, rather they had been ruling like rajas, maharajas, monarchs and the imperialists and that had been the reason no problem of the people could be solved by them. Rather, most of the problems which we inherited from the slavery period are still there, those have become complex and even number of problems are rising and the people are not satisfied with the period who are on the ruling side. Most of the ruling lot has been declared as corrupt and news are telling us something surprising.

The people in a democracy must be having proper education, training, proper jobs with them, proper income and they should not be dependant upon government. Till these basic requirements are not fulfilled, the people cannot be upgraded to live in a democracy. If these basic demands are lacking, the people shall live like slaves and the people who rule the country they act as per the old rulers and they keep the people slaves. This had been the position in India. And if we go deep, we shall find that the people of India had been given only one right and that is right to vote and when they come to the booths, they see the same old faces before them and that is the reason they have got no alternative and vote for those who have been branded as corrupt people. Therefore, these elections are just a formality to show that we are a democracy. Democracy cannot mean a lot of rulers who are looting the people and playing with public money.

So as far as India is concerned, it is a formal democracy and not a real democracy. We are still far away when we shall be choosing people from amongst ourselves and we are to still away from the goals when the people in the houses shall be working as public servants and we are far away when the people in the houses shall be working for the welfare of the people.

We want to bring change, but when election comes, the same sets of politicians are before us and we have noted honest, competent, healthy, bearing moral character and having something in their mind to help the people, are not before us and we are to choose the same old lot and thus we have wasted more than six decades. Let the people of India start having an introspection and the mistakes they had been committing should be stopped and they should enter a new era and must forward their own people and should not believe in these political parties who are nothing less than co-operative societies where people have collected with one motive and have divided position amongst themselves. They all are one and they play just friendly matches and they never work for the welfare of the people and till they take up this duty, we should not accept the present set up as a democracy.
