How to make homemade moisturizing cold cream

Homemade cold cream offers convenience and protection in a jar. Not only are you saving money over the store products, you are using a cream that you know is natural. These recipes will help protect the skin from the elements and offer moisturizing benefits that our skin needs.

Traditional Cold Cream

Tools Needed:

*Double boiler

*Bowl

*Whisk

*Glass Jar

Ingredients Needed:

*52 ounces of beeswax

*1/2 cup almond oil

*1/2 teaspoon borax

*1/4 cup rosewater

*Note: To have an unscented version, replace the rosewater with distilled water and the almond oil with mineral oil.

Instructions:

*Place the beeswax and almond oil in your double boiler. Place over low heat and stir constantly until the wax fully melts.

*After wax has melted, remove from the heat. Pour the rosewater and borax into a bowl and whisk until the borax is dissolved.

*Slowly pour your rosewater/borax mixture into the melted wax and whisk until thoroughly combined.

*Your mixture will become a milky color and continue to thicken as it cools. When it reaches a thick but still pourable state, pour into your glass storage container. The cold cream will continue to thicken to a creamy consistency.

If you need a more intense moisture cream, this recipe works well especially if used as a night cream. This cream is unscented, can be used by men or women, and is ideal for applying during the harsh, winter months.

Moisture Cream

*2 Tablespoon carnauba wax

*1 tablespoon white beeswax

*1/2 cup almond oil

*Only tools needed are a double boilder, whisk, and heat safe storage container. You can also replace the almond oil with mineral oil if you prefer.

This cream comes together quickly by simply placing all ingredients in your double boiler, heat on low, and stir constantly. When the waxes have melted, remove from the heat and pour into a heat-resistant storage container. The cream will thicken as it sits in the container. This recipe will make approximately 2/3 cup of moisturizer cream. Carnauba wax is known for its emollient properties and it is hypoallergenic making it a perfect choice for a moisturizing cream.

Both of these homemade creations can be stored in china pots and placed at your dressing table to have on hand whenever you need. They both also make beautiful gifts for family and friends and don't forget to add a card with the recipe since the receiver will definitely want to make more. Placed in a decorative container, these creams will be appreciated not only as a gift but by you as well.
