The first point is to make the most of DVD rental free trials.

Almost all DVD rental sites now have a free trial period for the start of a subscription but these can vary in length considerably. Go to a price comparison site to find the longest free trial or keep a look out for friends who are already subscribed to the service you want; you'll sometimes get much better results if they ask the dvd rental service to sign up their friend, any company loves word of mouth, it's the best type of free advertising.

The second point is that if at all possible you'll find that your service is much better value if you go for blu ray rental rather than DVDs since those are better value for money because they're higher quality higher value items to get for the same price at rental.

The third point is to make full use of the priority setting offered by your DVD rental company.
