How to make your old car seem new
If you've got an old car that you want to squeeze at least a couple more years out of before you have to admit defeat, you're not alone
. As the recession continues to tighten its grip on countries around the world, more and more people are looking for ways to pinch pennies in every way possible - and that certainly means that lavish new purchases are a no-no.
But what if your car really should be replaced? Well, it may look like it could use a visit to the scrap yard, but it could easily still have several years left to go before it gets to that point. As long as your car is fit to operate healthily without any danger and it passes all of its safety tests, it's perfectly fit to drive. However, that doesn't mean that it looks like it is!
There are plenty of things you can do to make your old car seem new. One of the best ways is to simply maintain your car throughout its life so that it ages better and is less likely to need repairs further along the line. By keeping your car clean, checking the tyres, changing the oil every 5000 kilometres or so and doing various other maintenance tasks you could find that you get a lot more miles out of your car before it packs in.
However, not everybody remembers to plan ahead in such a way and, so long as your car is passing its annual health checks each year, it's possible to keep it running while still keeping it looking young. And you can start by freshening it up on the outside. Never underestimate the power of a well-washed car! You can start by taking it to the car wash or even doing it yourself. If you've got some cash to spend, you might want to invest in new hub caps and a fresh paint job too - things like these will really go towards helping make your car look a lot younger. If you've got parts which are looking old and rusty, have them replaced or try to remove the rust - because nothing gives away a car's age like patches of damaged, flaky rust.
Even just by trying out one or more of the above will have your car looking much younger with barely any effort at all. Just remember to remove any obvious signs of age, such as scratches, rust and a
cracked windscreen if there's any windscreen damage and step back and enjoy a younger looking car!
