How to plan an indoor cricket nets session

Cricket coaches had to plan ahead and work out a schedule, if he wants to have an indoor cricket nets session. To be successful there should be a schedule to follow, before the session starts. The lead coach will be having all the authority to plan and formulate the session plan. The indoor cricket net sessions will be of greater help for players of all levels, either playing for U15 or district level, or national level.

Following is a 12 week plan for indoor cricket net sessions that will be enjoyable and quite effective for the players. Let us see how to plan the session so that you are not just turning up and seeing what happens, instead you should be with the proper planning ahead. Facilities available should be used to the maximum level to attain the greater benefits.

Every week has been assigned with a theme in order to allow the coaching team to see the plan for developing the players, quite early into the program. Below is the theme plan for all 12 weeks to practise different crucial skills:

Week 1, Straight Drive Week 2, Pull and cut shots Week 3, Ground Fielding Week 4, Catching (High, Low, Long, Slip, catches to the right or left) Week 5, Bowling, line and length Week 6, Fielding, catching - Slip and diving Week 7, Straight drives having completed the bleep test first Week 8, Bowling Week 9, Indoor Game Week 10, Players clinics; the players will be provide with specific coaching on one thing they felt desperate to improve upon Week 11, Full nets session for 2 hours Week 12, Bleep test followed by an indoor game

In week 1 when practising straight drive, there are some key points for the coaches to look for. These key factors include feet position at point of contact, head position, balance and front elbow. All qualified coaches will have a good technical model in their mind and this is the building point for this tool.

In all 12 weeks follow a planned strategy. Every week we worked an hour on session plan and for the final hour the players did netting. One separate net was there for batsmen to practice and get one to one coaching that will be helping them play better when going to main nets with bowlers.

At the end of each session, get your players feedback and then when they have left, invite your fellow coaches to add their own feedback. All parties should be working together and trying to achieve the same goals as when working together the benefits will quickly become apparent as you will see players making dramatic improvements.
