SharePoint organizes its data in sites and site collections.Sometimes SharePoint sites get crashed or corrupted due to hardware failure, operating system failure & we can not access our site. You have two options to get back your data:

First Restore your data from updated backup.

Recover SharePoint Site from third party SharePoint Recovery tools.

Now i explain how to take backup of your SharePoint Site. You can use SharePoint's STSADM command-line utility. The STSADM utility supports numerous operations. Here i am going to explain BACKUP and RESTORE operations. STSADM command-line utility run by using Windows command prompt or task scheduler. Stsadm is located at the following path: C:Program FilesCOMMON PROGRAM FILESmicrosoft sharedweb server extensions12in.

Now point comes that you want to backup & restore a site collection or a whole site. Follow these steps to backup a site collection:

You can backup a site collection using this command:

stsadm -o backup -url

-filename

Similarly You can restore a site collection using this command:

stsadm -o restore -url

-filename

Follow these steps to backup a whole site collection:

In order to backup a whole site, you can use this command:

stsadm -o export -url

-filename

In order to import a whole site, you can use this command:

stsadm -o import- url

-filename

You have to remember one point when you restored your SharePoint Database:

Note: You should restore your database to a new Database.

To apply this point follow these steps:

First you have to take backup of your site from old URL:

stsadm -o backup -url

-filename

After that deleted old URL:

stsadm -o deletesite -url

Restored it at the new URL, which exists in a new content database:

stsadm -o restore -url

-filename -overwrite

This is first solution to recover your corrupted SharePoint Site. If it is not work than go for second solution ie to try SharePoint Recovery Software.
