How were Ancient people against myopia?

In recent days, I find that my myopia have become even more serious. What should I do? My friends suggest me that I should change a pair of new prescription eyeglasses. I think so, but there is a question. Should I frequently change eyeglasses when my eye power change? I always think about it and have no answer. Anyway, I feel lucky that we are living in a world full of eyeglasses to help me achieve natural vision. I can't imagine what my world will be if I have no eyeglasses. Thinking about this, I am just wondering what the ancient people did when they suffered from myopia.

I have searched it on internet but without luck. I didn't find perfect answer. It is said that there are seldom people who suffered from myopia in ancient. In their world, they had no computers, no game machines, no TV sets or even electric lights. This made them have less opportunity to catch myopia. Besides, in ancient, there were seldom people who went to school, so they needn't to read books. They did not overuse their eyes so there are seldom people suffering such vision problems. So, there didn't have such question for them.

Nevertheless, still some people suffered vision problems for heredity, occupation and the environment where they lived. Don't think they have to suffered blurry world when they catched myopia. There existed magnification in very early time. I just find it from Wikipedia that the earliest historical magnification were appeared in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs in the 5th century BC which also called "simple glass meniscal lenses". That's may be the earliest "eyeglasses". As time went by, this magnification constantly changed to meet people's demands thereby appeared eyeglasses.

Anyway, have you noticed that why there was only a very small group of people who need to "eyeglasses" in the past while there are so big group of people who need to wear eyeglasses in modern time? There are lots of radiations in our living world which comes from computer and TV sets etc. Together with the fierce competition in our life which force us to learn and work hard thereby tired our eyes. Maybe that's why most modern people suffer myopia.
