HP DeskJet 6540 is an inkjet printer suitable for printing documents

, photographs, envelopes and labels. It is convenient to be placed in a tight space with its dimensions of 17.7 inches by 14.4 inches by 5.7 inches. It is easy to carry as it weighs only 13.2 pounds.

It satisfies various general printing needs, it accepts stocks like labels, envelopes, paper, photographic paper and transparencies. It provides crisp text prints and vibrant color prints up to 30 ppm for black and 20 ppm for color. The speed of print is satisfactory for general use. It provides print from 300 x 300 dpi resolution for black and 4800 x 1200 dpi resolution for color. It can provide borderless printing up to 8.5 x 11 inches size.

The control panel is convenient to use, print quality can be selected with one touch of a button from the front of the printer. Printing can be cancelled with one touch of a button. It has ink level indicator for cartridge replacements.

HP 343 ink cartridge of the printer uses specially manufactured ink to provide true to original colors with less grain. The printer also has black color cartridge. Option is available to switch to six colors printing by adding photo cartridge to tri color cartridge.

The printer has two USB ports, one port is located at the back and the other is located at the front for easy access. The printer supports operating systems Microsoft Windows 98, Windows Me, 2000, Windows XP; Mac OS 9.1+ and OS X v. 10.1+.
