Hp Dv8000 Laptop Series - Keyboard Problems

HP has done a good job taking laptop market share from Dell and launching a smooth marketing campaign using the slogan the computer is personal again

. HP has launched wretched and now large tale of the HP Pavilion dv8000 and other dv series laptops that have keyboards with their own mind.

How it Started

It all began on a when dv8000 series keyboard problems were posted in the NotebookReview.com forums. The problems were that the keys were not working properly. Sometimes the space bar didn't worked properly. Even the Caps Lock key was not working properly, sometimes everything he typed was stuck in caps and when he wanted the Caps Lock off, it didn't worked. Unfortunately, HP has to give Computer Support for its new dv8000 laptop.

HP knows about this problem, but do they care?

As we know that HP has already launched its dv8000 in Taiwan. Out of the people working for HP in Taiwan, a person with the dv8000 indicated about the issues that this keyboard had. He sent a mail to a guy who works for HP computer technical support hardware division in Taiwan and even got the person who designed this keyboard. Soon HP also sent an email for this problem as people in the hardware division were not aware of this problem before. Finally, this specific person with his dv8000 keyboard was not happy and HP's computer technical support asked to send his dv8000 to an HP center so that HP engineers can look at the issue. He also got a replacement in the form of a dv9000z.

This person who got his dv8000 replaced by a dv9000z was given special computer technical support. All the other who had this dv8000 laptop had to ship their laptop back to HP several times to fix it.

HP was asked to comment on the keyboard problem and they said that they will fix the problem as soon as possible by updating the BIOS, but when forum members tried this fix, it turned out to be another false hope. There is no solution for this keyboard problem till now. As users said that the issue exist in both Windows and Linux, so, it is likely a hardware issue. Another fix is to upload a video on YouTube.com about magically getting helped out with a new HP laptop.
