Hsm Securio B25s Shredder Review

Every office needs a good paper shredder, especially for the everyday shredding of junk mail

, correspondence, and unwanted copies. If you've been looking for a shredder, one you should take a look at is the HSM Securio B25s. We recently gave this machine a try to see what features it has and to determine if it has any weaknesses. Here's what we found out:

Strengths:

* The B25s is a great strip-cut shredder to use when you want to shred a lot of documents quickly. This device can process up to 25 sheets at a time which is an excellent amount. The paper can be up to 12" wide, so you can easily get rid of legal-sized sheets.

* This device has the ability to shred items such as CD's and credit cards. This gives you a fairly secure way to dispose of these things. Document fasteners can also be destroyed so you don't need to remove them from your papers.

* The B25s has a powerful motor that can operate continuously. This will allow you to shred non-stop so you can embark on big shredding projects if you need to. Also, since the motor is thermally protected, you won't need to worry about it overheating.

* This shredder is equipped with a rocker switch which makes turning it on and off incredibly easy. The machine has a photoelectric cell that can detect when there are items in the feed opening, so shredding can start automatically.

* The B25s has a reverse mode so you can take care of paper jams without any problems.

* Finally, this machine comes with a terrific two-year warranty.

Weaknesses:

* Since the B25s is a strip-cut model, it doesn't offer a super high level of security. While this device is great for everyday shredding, it shouldn't be used to shred top secret documents.

* This device doesn't have separate waste bins for plastic and paper shreds. This will definitely make recycling/disposal a bit challenging. The single waste bin holds 9 gallons of detritus so you might have to empty it frequently if you shred large amounts of paper.

Overall, the HSM Securio B25s is a terrific strip-cut shredder and we recommended it for general office use. We really love this machine's shredding capacity and that the motor can run continuously. It will enable you to get rid of your documents quickly. We also like that this device is strong enough to take care of document fasteners, CD's, and credit cards because it essentially makes the B25s an "all-in-one" machine. The two-year warranty is also great and is one of the best warranties in the industry. However, you need to keep in mind that this shredder is a strip-cut model so it can't give you the most security. Also, the 9-gallon waste bin will fill up quickly if you're doing a lot of shredding.
