HTC are proving there versatility by releasing the new Android powered HTC Desire

Z which has a slide out QWERTY keyboard and a full user interface with a capacitive screen. The device was launched along side the new Desire HD and shares its HD capabilities despite having a lower grade camera. Both phones also run using the Android 2.2 OS which is also known as Froyo.

The screen measures at an impressive 3.7 inches and utilises the multi-touch input method for UI interaction. The 480 x 800 pixel setup slows the screen to reproduce over 16M colours with a truly impressive contrast ratio. The on-screen visuals are crisp and saturated in rich colours with clarity. The QWERTY keyboard is comfortable to use and the keys are nicely sized for very accurate typing which is a nice change from some of the other Android devices on the market with keyboards.

Being an Android phone, the Desire Z is loaded with Google goodies which include Google Maps, Street View and Gmail. The advanced platform also gives users uncensored access to the Android Market which contains thousands of downloadable applications for users to enrich there already awesome user experience. The HTC Sense UI is intuitive and capable of integrating all of your social networks into the phonebook for a fully synched communications experience. You also have the FriendStream application for live feeds and updates from all of your social network accounts, including the likes of Twitter and Facebook.

The HTC Desire Z is becoming famous for its advanced messaging support which is clear from the moment you pick up the phone. It is easy to set the phone up with your various e-mail accounts and IM accounts. You can also choose to use a universal inbox which combines all of your inboxes for a full overview. The device also has support for mainstream formats such as SMS and MMS which can be viewed in conversation form.

The 5MP camera is a marvellous set; it comes with auto-focus, flash and face detection and it will comfortably handle HD video capture and high res stills while giving you the opportunity to share your work online with some easy to use sharing facilities. You can also share your files with friends via Bluetooth. The video player has been calibrated to handle multiple file types while the music player is supported by a 3.5mm jack so you can privately listen to your tunes on the go. The phones memory can be expanded to 32GB via microSD card and you can connect your phone to your desktop PC or laptop via microUSB.

The HTC Desire Z has been equipped with such features as GPS, FM radio and a DLNA connection for TV compatibility. You also get various sensors which allow the phone to detect its position and proximity to its user while the accelerometer allows the UI to flip to landscape mode where access to the keyboard allows users to compose messages and e-mails in record time.

The Desire Z is HTCs answer to a messaging powerhouse, and a powerhouse it is. The phone has an 800MHz processor which enables it to operate at high speeds whilst multitasking. Users will find the interface to be incredibly intuitive and the Android platform allows for a smooth experience all-round.
