Htc Desire Vs Htc Legend Clash Of The Titans

HTC came out with two new handsets at the Mobile World Congress 2010

. Both these phones sport the Android vs 2.1 and come power packed with all the latest features. There is no doubting the fact that these beauties might very well be two of the most talked about phones this year. Both these mobiles have all the makings of a great smart phone. However, there is no such thing as 'perfect' and there might be times when one phone manages to get a leg up over its counterpart, only to fall short in some other area. Let's examine them, shall we?

Size and Mobility

If size matters to you and you feel that 'smaller, the better', then HTC Legend is what you're looking for. The smaller phone will never slow you down in a rush. Its sturdy body is constructed out of a single piece of metal and is deceptively sturdy. Even though the phone has a delicate touchscreen, Legend will be able to take on the day-to-day beatings with a smile on its face.

Despite being larger than Legend, Desire is only 10g heavier and a little bit thicker, however, Legend's compact unibody design is what cinches the deal.

Movie Playing Capability

Both the phones come with AMOLED screens, which offer great display ability with its amazing contrast and color reproduction. But, when it comes to enjoying movies, HTC Desire is what steals the show with its extra half inch of screen space.

You need a good processor to watch movies. The HTC Legend's 600 MHz processor, while powerful, can not play play high definition DivX files. Desire's 1GHz processor on the other hand and display screen of 480 x 800 resolution can play HD movies with ease.

For the Email Oriented

If you use the mobile to send and receive emails, then you probably look for phones with a large and comfortable keyboard. Both the Desire and Legend have capacitive touchscreens, which means that they've been designed in such a manner that fingers, instead of a stylus, can be used for navigation. Both the phones have a virtual QWERTY keyboard provided by HTC Sense UI and with the accelerometer feature, they can auto-rotate depending on the way the phone is held.

Even though the keyboard is the same, the extra screen space on the Desire make the typing process much easier and comfortable. The large screen almost makes the keyboard as good as a slide out version and even people with larger fingers can type on it easily.

Price

Even though both the Legend and Desire are high end phones, the specifications on HTC Desire mean that it'll be placed at a much higher price when compared with its younger brother. That doesn't mean that the HTC Desire is a cheap phone! If anyone wants to own a Legend, it's still recommended that they get into a contract rather than shelling out hundreds of pounds for the Sim Free version
