Htc Desire Vs Htc Wildfire: What To Expect In These Two Smartphones

HTC is one of those mobile phone manufacturers famous for producing smartphones with top notch quality and features

. Among their collection of high end phones, at present, the most well liked are the HTC Desire and its successor, the HTC Wildfire. Although some say these phones arent really different from each other, each phone has its unique quality. Lets pit some of the features and specifications of the new and old model against each other and see how well they fair.

Design

This is rather obvious, but the first thing that consumers really notice in a mobile phone is its structure, form and overall design. One quick glance at these two smartphones and youd already know which one is more compact in form. Going through the specifics, the new model is only 106.8 x 60.4 x 12 mm and weighs only 118 grams, as opposed to the old ones 119 x 60 x 11.9 mm dimension and 135 gram weight.

This huge difference in size may be due to the fact that the display panel in the new model is also undersized when compared to the old models screen. The 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen of HTC Wildfire with resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and 16M color display, although bigger than most mobile phones, is significantly smaller than HTC Desires 3.7-AMOLED capacitive touchscreen (with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 16M color display)

The good points, however, are not limited to the old model since the new one comes equipped with new features for its touchscreen like touch-sensitive controls and turn-to-mute and lift-to-dim-out a call, apart from the ones it has in common with the old version like multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor, proximity sensor and HTC Sense user interface.

Both these phones sport, at the back, a 5-megapixel camera complete with autofocus, LED flash, smile detection and geo-tagging. This built-in camera is not really worthy of so much attention since there are a number of high end mobile phones that have larger values for resolution than this.

Memory and Processing

Although the camera is not really noteworthy, the storage capacity is one thats really remarkable since both these phones can support microSD cards that can go as high as 32 GB. This is apart from the 512 MB ROM. When talking about memory, the RAM is where one will find a discrepancy between the HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire; the old model is equipped with 576 MB RAM while the new is limited to 384 MB.

The RAM is not the only thing where you can find a difference between these two phones. Although they have the same operating system, the Android OS v2.1, the central processing unit of the old one, which is a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor, is so much better than the new ones 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7225 chip.

HTC Sense

You can probably find a number of decent smartphones in the market, each one boasting about its remarkable features. HTC has its fair share; one comes in the form of HTC Sense. This UI, present in HTC Desire, allows individuals to pull together information like status updates from their contacts in Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. HTC Wildfire has the same UI but with a few tweaks since it also provides updates of your contacts profile pictures. GP
