Hyundai Excels In Suv Segment

The new Hyundai IX35 was unveiled by Hyundai in 2009 as the replacement for the Hyundai Tuscan

. Like its predecessor the IX35 is a crossover SUV available as two wheel or four wheel drive. The new IX35 took over 36 months to develop, it was designed by former BMW designer Thomas Buerkle and features Hyundais new design philosophy fluidic sculpture.

The IX35 is available with two 2.0 litre engines, a diesel and petrol. The Hyundai diesel engine in use in the IX35 meets the latest Euro 5 emissions standards and produces 182 bhp, which is enough to cause some wheel spin on the two wheel drive version. The petrol engine is only available on the four wheel drive model and comes with 166 bhp. With SUV type vehicles there has always been a constant battle between low speed manoeuvrability and high speed control, the

IX35 strikes a wonderful balance between the two. The firm suspension keeps body roll to a minimum, though the ride can be firm at times.

When it comes to refinement the IX35 cant match its rivals, the diesel engine is very noisy at high speeds and even at normal cruising speedsits quite loud. Road and wind noise is also highlyaudible even at low speeds, the petrol engine produces slightly less engine noise but the other noises are still present.

The Hyundai IX35 in Dartford can be picked up from 16,195 for theGDi Style model, the range topping 2.0 CRDi 184 Premium with four wheel drive will set you back 23,095. These prices however do not take the new VAT rise into consideration.
