I Cheated On Her And I Am Sorry - How Do I Make Her Believe Me?

Let's be real about something for a moment and just blatantly say that if you cheated

on your girlfriend, then you really can't expect that she is going to be able to handle it well and just forgive you. There is a good chance that she is going to end up breaking up with you and even if she doesn't end the relationship, then the reality is that she probably isn't going to trust you all that much. What can you do when you cheated on your girlfriend and you are sorry and you just want to make her believe you when you say that it will never happen again?

Here are some tips for what you can try to do to make her believe what you say:

1) If you have not already, own up to what you did and don't try to act like it didn't really happen.

You may be able to get a temporary reprieve if you are convincing enough when you try to convince your girlfriend that it didn't really happen, but what about when she finds out that it really did? At that point, she is not just going to think of you as being a cheater but also as a liar and that is not an easy thing to have to deal with. So, be upfront about it and don't try to deny that it really did happen.

2) Do not keep in contact with the woman you cheated on your girlfriend with.

I've met some guys who wanted to try to stay in contact with the woman that they cheated on their girlfriend with AND get their girlfriend's forgiveness at the same time and all I can say is, that is just not going to happen. You have to show your ex girlfriend that you are not going to give her any reason to distrust you and cutting all contact with the woman you cheated on your girlfriend with is a good start.

3) You have to allow time to pass for her to feel like she can trust you again and believe you when you say that it was a mistake.

This is something that you really cannot fast track, you just have to let time pass and as it does and she sees that you are not going to do it again, THEN you will be able to really get her forgiveness. It might be a nice wish to have your girlfriend forgive you right away, but that is all it is - a wish. The more realistic expectation is to just figure that it will take some time before she really feels as though she can trust you and believe you again.
