I Dont Have Time For Marketing!
For many business owners, time becomes so precious that marketing may be given less
priority than other functions that need to be accomplished when operating a business. What with so many clients to serve, a business to manage, as well as other sales and marketing tasks to perform, a business owner may not find time anymore to dedicate to marketing.
But marketing is one important task that any business should never stop doing. It is from marketing that a company can become known in the market. So how does one find time to market even with so many other priorities in the everyday list?
There are many techniques that you can do to help you manage your priorities so you can have time for marketing. Techniques such as delegating your tasks or deferring some of them for another time; breaking down your tasks into smaller and achievable tasks or projects; or even to set aside a time in your busy calendar to make calls, write your letters, and update your business cards and other marketing literature. These can definitely help you find time for other priorities.
But despite these, you still find time to be scarce, especially for marketing your business; the key is to make it yourself. Instead of isolating your marketing tasks and preparing for a particular schedule to complete this task; why not include marketing in your everyday tasks? Why not integrate your marketing activities with that you are already doing in the first place?
This is how you can make this idea work:
When attending trade exhibits, workshops, networking activities, and other social events why not consider inviting your business contacts along? You can use your business card printing to promote a particular event that you would want your contact to attend with you. Share your business cards and extend the invitation to your leads. Attending these events provide for a more casual and relaxed way to get to know your leads better. And you will be able to build a much stronger relationship with your contacts. Rather than have a stiff and rigid sales meeting; invite your contacts instead to a ballroom event which you sponsored in your community.
When having a lunch meeting or even coffee with a prospect why not add another prospect to the party? Not only are you killing two birds with one stone, so to speak, but you would also make it more interesting for your target clients if the other contact is someone they can also network for themselves. You will be surprised to know that the conversation is flowing more smoothly with the group youve created.
When travelling... arrange for lunch or dinner, or even breakfast, with a contact, whether the travel is for business or pleasure. You can make dining more enjoyable for you and you may even get tips on where best to go and what to do direct from a local.
When taking a walk or any other form of exercising again, try to schedule a meeting with your contacts. Meetings dont have to take place inside an office or in a restaurant. You can invite your contact to join you for your regular game of tennis, a walk in the park, or whatever it is you do to exercise. This is especially helpful if the person youre inviting shares the same zeal you have for the sport. Its not only golf that can help you network your way to your prospects.
When you read an article think of at least three people you can share it with. And then send a copy of the article (or the whole book or magazine if you can afford it!) with a note that you thought they might be interested. It only takes a moment of your time to send out information; but the impact your action makes to your target clients is priceless.
These are just some of the everyday things you can incorporate your marketing to. When you do your marketing often, you will gain connections that you can build to make your bottom line bigger and better.
