I love the countryside and up until recently I couldn't imagine myself living anywhere else other then in a small village
. I suppose it's all I know and for all of my life I've lived looking out on to farm animals and fields and couldn't imagine waking up in the morning and just seeing piles of houses outside my window. Unfortunately living in the countryside came to an end a few months ago. My husband who had moved out to the countryside with me had a job offer which he just couldn't refuse. It was for a lot more money, fewer hours and along with that a huge step up the corporate ladder which he had longed for, for a very long time. The problem was it was in a city which was a good two hour drive from our home and he just couldn't commute without being completely tired most of the week.
We decided to move but although I didn't let on to him I was devastated. I loved our home and had imagined us bringing up our children in that home and we now would be unable to do that. We found a house on the outskirts of the city which I suppose was a compromise but it still felt very urban for my liking. It took me quite a while to adjust to the change and although I would still prefer to live in a small village living in a built up area does have a very advantages which I do enjoy.
I don't have to drive a long distance to go out for a nice meal or evening as I can eat at a lovely restaurant and only walk a few hundred yards. Along with that there is an endless selection to choose from unlike before where I would travel a long distance and cope with whatever I found.
We're on mains drains so I don't have to go to the computer once a year to type in septic tank emptying scotland.
