In addition the IITs also admit students for courses like M-Tech, M.S, MBA & M.Sc in physics, chem & maths. IIT kharagpur, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Delhi & Guwahati were established in year 1950, 1958, 1959, 1959, 1961 & 1994 respectively. The Roorkee engineering college was converted into IIT in the year 2001. Six new IITs were opened in year 2006 & in 2008 two more were added to the coveted list.

Like every year the IIT JEE is going to be conducted in the month of April & the students have option to apply for it either on-line or off line & after declaration of result in May, the counseling process for seat allotment starts. On line form can be submitted through JEE websites whereas for off line submission one has to fill & submit hard copy of the available paper form. The fee for on line & off line application is Rs. 900 & Rs. 1000 respectively for General category male candidates whereas the cost comes to half in case of reserve category & female candidates. For on line application, the candidate has to log-on to IIT JEE website & follow the instruction on the site. After complete ting the form, the candidate has to take the print out of the form & after signing by applicant & guardian should be sent to the JEE office along with their photo & other documents. For applying off-line, you can buy the information brochure along with OMR application form any of the designated bank branches in each zone as under:

Then filling the OMR application form as per instructions in the information brochure & signing it & send it to the zonal IIT.

After declaration of result of the exam, the counseling will take place for the eligible candidates. The counseling will be held on-line for the general category candidates & other category candidates will have to attend off-line on-campus counseling at the zonal IIT. The candidates are required to fill choices for courses & colleges carefully for seat allotment
