Ideal Kenya Camel Safari
Kenya camel safari will give you an opportunity to explore the remote land of the Samburu people where roads are not accessible
. Samburu are the local people who walk for many hours in search of water, food and firewood. Camels are the only means of transport and riding on these calm animals is indeed a wonderful adventure. If you are used to the modern way of life, this safari will make you understand and appreciate the livelihood and culture of the Samburu people. The safari will involve walking for long distances of between 15km to18km per day.
On a camel safari, you can choose to ride the camel or just walk along and experience the hardship of the samburu people. In most cases, there are ten or twelve camels arranged on each safari to assist in carrying all tent materials, food, drinks and your baggage. In case you are unable to proceed on the walk, you can ride a camel to the next camping site. You will however be required to wear saddles and it is advisable that you remember to carry your camera. A Samburu warrior together with other local helpers will be your guide during your safari. The local guide is well experienced and able to talk in English and Kiswahili.
At arrival to each camping site, you will have your delicious food prepared on the open air by trained cooks. Relaxation, hot showers, drinks and champagne is available in the evening. This is accompanied by music and dance entertainment from the local people. Sometimes, an elder will narrate the history and culture of their people which you will enjoy to listen. However, alcoholic drinks will be an extra expense and you will have to pay. Travelling is done in the early morning before the hot sun heat your souls. Afternoon walks are guided the warrior and they are not a must.
Though a remote area, the beauty in the Samburu land is so attractive and you will always miss to return. This ranges from plenty of wildlife, the beautiful scenery, of Ndoto Mountain Ranges, walking in the bush and the nice welcome from the friendly people Samburu. A camel safari will also include visiting the Samburu Manyyatas (small muddy huts thatched with grass) where you will interact with the Samburu people and make new friends. You will however not take photos unless you are permitted to do so. Sometimes, you will pay some money for photographing.
