Ideas For Finding The Best Montessori Frisco Area School
Everyone wants the best for their child
Everyone wants the best for their child. This includes attendance at a Montessori Frisco area school. But, the task of choosing the best one is difficult. Part of the reason is that the curriculum is standardized to a degree. Each school presents the material in their own way, however. This means you child, ages 3 to 12, can be taught as a whole child, addressing all areas, not just the academic ones.
Education starts at age three and continues to age twelve, or upper elementary age. Development is addressed more at earlier ages. This includes toilet training and early exposure to simple academic pursuits in a hands-on way. They are exposed to higher primary level skills in the multi-age classroom. This encourages development of the whole child, as sensory needs are addressed in this environment.
Skills for daily living are also taught at this level. This includes dressing skills, use of household tools and equipment, cleaning skills, and instruction in keeping areas clean and organized. Simple cooking and helping care for household animals is also addressed. The focus is to help develop a responsible adult citizen and household member, doing their part.
Simple academics are also introduced to the child at this age, in a manner that matches their age. They will be taught geography, for instance, by moving about their school and local area. Reading involves recognizing print as another means of communication, and that books are special and should be treated as such. Cooking chores involve measuring and pouring, introducing math skills at a simple level.
Skills increase in difficulty as the child enters early elementary age and older. The focus is more strongly on academics. They are encouraged to find information on their own in books and libraries. Life skills are still taught, but are much more advanced. They will learn to use public transportation, and to navigate their community on foot. Consumer skills will be taught as well, increasing in difficult as the child progresses.
Banking and tax preparation skills will be addressed, as will meal preparation, the use of household tools and equipment on a more advanced level, learning to care for younger children. Survival skills, including basic auto maintenance, will also be taught. The skill of finding and seeking help in their community will also be a focus.
Subjects such as Language Arts, Math, and Science will be taught. Such subjects as Geography, Fine Arts, History and Geometry will begin to be addressed in a more academic way. Continued training in sensory areas will lead to the appreciation of music, art and architecture. Enhanced observation techniques will be taught so the child can discriminate variations in their environment.
All these subjects at Montessori Frisco area schools are taught at an accelerated level. The student who promotes from these schools to a public middle school will be advanced above most other students. They will also be equipped with the skills to care for themselves and be responsible students, family members, and community leaders. Leadership skills will be strong.
