Ideas On How To Plan A Relaxing Yet Professional-looking Home Office

Do you have a home office? If so you know that depending on how much work you do there

, you will need more space. Even if it is a big room -- or especially if it is not -- you want the space to be very organized. You will find you work much more efficiently if you have a home office where everything is kept in its rightful place.

Think outside the box when you plan your home office. You don't want to just limit yourself to things like a desk and a computer. Here are some ideas to help you have a cozy usable space you'll love to spend time in, and that will help you be productive.

1. Keep a separate workspace. Ideally, you have a whole room or at least a corner of a room where you can have a separate desk to work at. If this isn't feasible, can you set up a wall or use a moveable partition such as a screen to help separate the space? This is helpful for many people.

2. If you have enough space for cabinets that really helps you store items securely and neatly. If not, put up some wall shelves. You can then use cube units to store files, folders, and documents.

3. Put in a glass window. If you have a window in your office that lets you see your family this is ideal. You can always use a window shade for privacy or when you don't want to be disturbed. Make the space a glass window though, not an open space, so that sound doesn't disturb you.

4. Consider having a futon or daybed in your office. If you do this, you can unwind if your work gets very stressful.

You don't want a full sized or double bed. It should not look like a bed really. A sofa bed would work if you want to maximize space and have a place for clients to sit.

5. The right lighting makes a huge difference. If you have lighting that is bothering you or flickering or is too dim, you can give yourself headaches. This is easily avoidable. Use lighting you can read by and that doesn't tire your eyes.
