If My Delivery Is Lost Or Damages, Is It Insured?
Nothing feels worse than getting that phone call from your Oklahoma City Courier
Service where they have to let you know that your package has been lost in transit, or that it got wet and was destroyed, or that it fell of the truck and broke. None of these are pleasant situations, but the shining light is that every one of them should be insured against by your courier company. So, at the very least you should be able to submit a claim and to get reimbursed for the damage done to your products.
In addition to the insurance that they have on their vehicles, courier companies have another kind of insurance as well known as courier insurance. This is that actual policy which is covering the things that they are transporting for their customer. So if your packages get damaged, it is under the courier insurance policy that they carry that you will be making a claim.
Courier insurance covers against all of the most common things that happen to cause a loss when couriers are transporting goods. This includes almost all forms of damage that might occur, such as weather, vandalism, dropping, or damage sustained in vehicle accidents. It will also protect against the situations where your package might go missing, such as if the courier loses it, deliveries it incorrectly or allows it to be stolen.
Putting in your claim is usually a simple matter. The thing to remember is that you must contact the courier as soon as possible to let them know that you need to make a claim. Otherwise you may find that too much time has passed and that you're no longer eligible. Also, if the claim is for damage the package sustained, be sure to keep the original packaging, as you may very well be asked to produce it during the claims process to show that the item was packed correctly when originally shipped. This is needed to establish that the damage was in fact the courier's fault, and not yours due to incorrect packing.
The final thing to mention is that you may occasionally be required to purchase additional insurance on your shipment. This is usually only necessary if the value of your goods is much more than than the maximum provided by the insurance. You should be able to see if this is the case when declaring the value of your goods before shipping.
