If Only There Were A Better Dispatch Software
The problems with the current UK taxi dispatch software are plentiful
. Its more than annoying when the only option out there is to use the phone to make a booking, which is then sent to the driver. In a day and age where you can video call from the waiting seats in Charing Cross (thank you, wireless), it seems strange that there be no easier or faster way of booking a taxi than by picking up the telephone. Calling a cab office, and waiting for a controller to become available. This is time consuming, not to mention ridiculously annoying. And when you do finally get through, theres no guarantee that you will actually get a taxi in the next twenty minutes. We just feel if the whole process was sped up just that little bit, not only would the cab companies be happier because there would be a bigger turnover of customers, we wouldnt have to wait outside the pub for so long!
But to come up with a new and problem-solving dispatch software will not only be lengthy, but we think that you would have to be quite knowledgeable on the subject, also. The people behind it can be cash-led. In my terms of talking, this means they think of nothing but where the next buck will come from. It seems not everyone puts in the effort and research needed to actually solve a problem, often, they skimming the surface, for a short-term solution. Because of this, the dispatch system you may have in your cab office may have problems because of the constant updates, the need to install and restart if anything about it ever changes, and potential call out charges if something goes wrong. This can be a nightmare, and living in a city where the average car speed is 12 miles, we understand if you dont really like having to wait so long for someone to fix something that you business cannot operate without.
The hardware on your computer, for some unknown reason because, lets be honest, you werent trained in computer science at school, can be a nightmare. Especially when you have a fleet of cars, a team of drivers and a strong control room but no jobs to handle. Think of it, if you will, in terms of a train. With the train, the passengers, and the driver ready, it suddenly runs out of track. You have to wait for someone to come along and fix it. Youre all raring to go, but that wont in anyway solve the problem facing you. What you need is some soft of taxi booking software that eliminates this problem. It doesnt operate by installing discs onto the computer, which then become useless when there are updates. It would run from somewhere forward thinking, like space, and would just float around us, accessible from anywhere in the world, so long as there is an internet connection. Now something like that would be just superb.
