If You Ignore Driveway Cleaning, How Are You Going To Win The Award For Best Neighborhood Yard?

, but we don't really need to hear this. After all, we make subconscious assumptions the minute we first meet. Human beings tend to paint a picture in their mind in advance and will compare the real thing with the picture, inevitably.

Economic times dictate that if you're trying to sell your property you should made every effort to make sure that it is sparkling, spotless and clean. Curb appeal is what you are looking for and you must ensure that positive first impressions abound. Those first impressions will start outside your home and driveway cleaning is a top priority. It's all very well paying attention to your yard and a garden without weeds or brown spots, but this may not be good enough.

Driveway cleaning can take some preparation. If you have overlooked its maintenance for some time, you will undoubtedly have oil and tar spots, rubber deposits from the tires, those "overspray" areas, where you were touching up the side walls of your tires and so on. Chances are you will have cracks here and there and maybe even grass and weeds poking through.

Driveway cleaning starts with a full appraisal of the problem. Before you even think about cleaning, treat all those weeds with appropriate chemicals a couple of days in advance. Wherever you see the cracks, fill them in and cover, allowing to repair. Don't start cleaning until this is all cured.

Many of those oil deposits on the floor can be removed with cat litter, one of the favorite solutions. It's very absorbent, of course, but you might still have to try this two or three times to get rid of the worst. If this doesn't work, use a specially made chemical by all means, but avoid flushing it into the drainage system.

In spite of all your preparation efforts, you might find that you have problem areas in so many places that one of your final stages of driveway cleaning should be to seal everything with a coat of paint. Find solutions that are made specifically for concrete treatment and you can cover up the worst deterioration or weather damage.

Even if you're not selling your property, driveway cleaning is a good idea, periodically. If your garage is full of stored items and you cannot park your vehicles within, you should get hold of one of those garage floor mats and place beneath your vehicles, overnight. These products come in fairly neutral colors, so won't stand out like a sore thumb on your driveway. However, they will certainly help protect from those inevitable stains and spills.

Don't even try to go for the award of best yard in the neighborhood, if your driveway is a complete eyesore. This should be your first task and not your last.
