When medical care is needed, there is often no warning, and hospitals are usually far away and the emergency rooms are always packed. Immediate care centers are the alternative and have the same quality of treatment only they have a much shorter wait time. There is likely one near your home and you should familiarize yourself with it immediately. Not only the location, but the doctors they have serving you as well as the services they offer and the cost of their treatment as well.

No appointment is needed for immediate care centers obviously, but if there is an emergency it is still wise to call ahead to make sure they are fully prepared to deal with the problem. Most centers accept all insurance providers and are ready for treatment twenty four hours a day. The main inclination to using a center instead of a general practitioner or hospital is quickness. Emergency rooms, or "E. R.'s" are they are called are literally packed with people afflicted with major and serious problems every moment, and even after waiting for what could be hours, one must still fill out a pile of paperwork so the hospital can be sure they are able to charge you for treatment, even if the doctor does nothing but put a bandage on your elbow. ICC's (immediate care center) are fully staffed and waiting.

These care centers offer a multitude of different services to make sure you are well, and treat adults and children both; something most general practitioners do not do. They also offer things like seasonal flu shots to keep your immunity up which is becoming a more severe situation for most people. Whether your problem is a deep cut bleeding heavily, or illnesses you just can't shake they take emergencies or otherwise, something most hospitals do not provide for. Other sudden situations such as sprains and fractures must be dealt with immediately and often require some sort of pain relief. Again, normally this would require a hospital visit, but not when an ICC is present.

Along with flu shots, there are other "medical" services people need that are a massive hassle if one must go to their physician. These include physicals needed for school sports teams, and drug screens for employment. X-rays are offered here as well for any necessary work, which more often than not is a hassle to find and carry out at the hospital. These centers are a great alternative to any medical attention that would be offered anywhere else.
