Quebec has a total of 19 universities and in 16 of them both English and the French is used as a language of instruction.

There are many varieties of French that is being spoken in Canada. Each type is a little different from the others. The differences depend on the other prominent language being used in the area and the type of people who constitute the majority of the population. Scientists who study the use of languages believe that the accents and usages can differ in an urban area and a rural area. The different varieties of French used in the Canada are called basically by the name of the area.

The type of French language that is popular to the Quebec City area is known as the Quebec French. Some varieties of French, which is spoken in areas of Ontario and Labrador, are also similar to the French spoken in Quebec City. This variety is more conservative in nature. There are other minor differences also but basically they are all similar. These differences do not hold much importance to a migrant worker. The workers have to be able to speak and understand French. Their accent and the style do not hold any importance to the testing agency.

It is because French is so extensively used in the country and especially Quebec City, that is has been made necessary for all migrant workers to be fluent in the use of French. This condition was first seen as an unnecessary hurdle but later on everybody understood its importance and it was accepted.
