Nonetheless, some basic principles and guidelines are applied when visual design is applied to advertising. The combination and arrangement of the various elements must capture the attention, entice and create the desire in the mind of consumers to spend money on the products or services being offered. Advertising almost always uses persuasive propaganda approach.
All the creativity and artistry of visual design will be meaningless if the message they convey are very ambiguous and do not capture the imagination of the target market. As a rule of thumb, designs that are intended for advertising commercial products should be simple, emotionally appealing and direct to the point.
