Importance of AS9100 Rev. C

Due to the fast dissemination of various facts and information on various media today

, consumer consciousness is growing. Because of this rate, the producers and brokers are pushed to their limits by the gradual but rising increments in the consumer standards. And time will come that consumer's standards will surpass what the current human technology has to offer.

In the aerospace industry for example, quality of products and services does matter, alongside with safety and reliability, which must not be ignore in this field. Aerospace manufacturers and contractors are all subject to comply with AS9100, a standard set by the Society of Automotive Engineers and the European Association of Aerospace Industries for equipment and services rendered in the aerospace business. And this standard is widely adopted by the members of the aerospace industry.

Aerospace Basic Quality System Standard 9100, or simply known as AS9100, was released in October 1999. It subsequently replaced the former AS9000, which was established by major aerospace bodies in the United States, as the standard quality management system, or QSM, of the aerospace industry. Integrating the latest revisions on ISO 9000 by the International Organization for Standardization, AS9100 had put an additional emphasis for the requirements regarding quality check and safety.

The key importance of the AS9100 revision is the incorporation of the ISO 9000 code into its principles. Before the implementation of any aerospace specific quality standard, aerospace corporations rely solely on the ISO 9000, with some complimentary modifications for aerospace industry usage. These independent systems proved to be difficult for competing manufacturers and contractors. As a result, major American aerospace corporations combined all their system and came up with a single and cohesive quality standard, which would be AS9000.

By 2000, the AS group worked alongside with the ISO for revisions and additions of policies. At the same time, both AS and ISO came up with modified standards using each other's organizational and philosophical schemes. AS released AS9100, while the ISO released ISO 9100. The AS9100 registrar had been subject to reorganization and was decommissioned afterwards.

Last 2009, AS9100 Revision C was released, giving more importance on client safety and satisfaction.
