In this highly competitive business world most of the companies like in IT sector providing Outsourced NOC services are using the datacenters. Mainly a datacenter is a combination of computer systems and other associated components like telecom and IT components, power supplies, internet connections, security devices etc.

In the early age of computing industry huge computer and server rooms were used. Computer systems were heavy and many times create problems due to overheating. A large number of cables were used to connect all the components. With the booming of the computer industry during the 1980s, computers started to be used in every industry. Microcomputers which are now called as Servers were being used in old rooms during 1990s. With the availability of superior technology and low cost networking equipments for network cabling and with this it is easy to use some specific design to put the servers in a room. This process termed as data center and become very popular in the present scenario.

Most of the Business Server Support companies and other firms needed fast internet so many of them started to setup large centers like the internet data centers and a reliable IT infrastructure is crucial for IT operations to remove the disruptions. Hence the data center must be of high standards to keep the equipments and functionality secure of the network environment. And this is gained by the redundancy of the power and network cables generating a good emergency power backup. If we are talking about the necessary requirements for the data center design and cooling is very important.

The data center can cover a room, floor or entire building. The servers are placed in racks, rows and cabinets forming aisles. With this everyone can access through cabinets. Size of the servers can be huge and they can occupy the whole floor also. Many mainframe computers and storage devices are big like racks. Most of the large data centers use shipping containers which contain more than thousand servers. Another important aspect is cooling.

For more flexible cooling environment for this center decent cooling equipments should be used and a raised floor system to reduce heat. The racks and cabinets should be arranged in a manner so that hot and cold chambers can be created for hot and cold air to flow. The internal physical environment of the data center is controlled through the air conditioners. Some modern centers use the economized cooling which contains the outside air to keep the data center cool.

Motive of the data center is to run the application which handle and manage the core business and operational data of the firm. These are also used for offsite backups generally taken on the backup tapes. Encrypted backups can be used to store data securely. Each of the equipments and tools of the data center should be arranged properly so that it gives the business to focus on the core business environment not on the technical issues. It gives the organization time to reduce the operational investments and generate revenues.
