A computer that's connected to the internet. Of course, it's only sensible that you should be connected to the internet for you to be able to shop online. For this reason, you must have access to a machine that is wired for Internet activities. The machine may be a desktop computer, a laptop, a notebook, a mobile phone or any other electronic device which connects you to the online shop. You don't have to necessarily own one while traveling. Airports and other establishments also offer computers with internet connectivity where you can do your shopping.

A credit card, debit card, or Paypal. This is one instance where you really need to have a credit card or an electronic form of currency - which is why cash isn't exactly quite important here. For you to pay for your purchases, you need to be in possession of a credit or debit card. Credit cards enable you to buy items online by entering your credit card number on a purchase order, and it will automatically debit your account for it. You actually owe some amount to your credit card provider and will need to pay interest in case you fail to settle the owed amount on a certain due date. By contrast, debit cards contain your actual monetary balance so that when you pay for an item, you use your existing funds to do so and do not owe any amount to any third party. So don't get yourself confused between these two cards. Either way, what is essential in either card is your card number. So make sure you can easily identify that number, because you're going to be using it a whole lot when shopping online.

An address. When buying something online, digital files are immediately sent to your email or is downloaded through your computer. However, when you're buying tangible things such as clothes, shoes and gadgets, you must own a physical address where your purchases can be delivered. Most stores shun the use of post office box address and will require that you give them your office or home address. Be very specific with the information you provide, as some merchants can charge you extra for returned and re-sent products.
