These traits will be in addition to the volunteering work and training you have been through which are related to this field.

Apart from that, you can also mention to your prospective employer that you have spent considerable amount of time undergoing hands-on training under direct supervision of a MA instructor. You can list down the different duties you have performed such as:

- Organizing of date for patient care

- Safe keeping of records

- Data entry

When applying for a job in this field, you should be creative and determined. You should present a high level of confidence and energy during interviews. These can help you prove to the employer that you are the right person for the job position.

Certification for Medical Assistants

This area in the health care industry does not have education requirements. However, employers prefer job applicants with certification credential. Most employers want their medical assistants to be certified because it shows how committed they are to work in this field.

Some of the States that require certification

- California. MA's who draw blood in this state should be certified.

- Georgia. Professionals who carry out point of care testing are certified.

- South Dakota. The state does not allow anyone to practice in the medical assisting field if he/she is not registered with the Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners.

- Minnesota. A person who offers services at a healthcare facility should be licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health.

What is the certification examination like?

The certification examination for medical assistants is a typical multiple choice type of test. It is timed and can be taken on paper in writing or electronically.
