Spring cleaning your home is an ancient tradition designed to help you to shake off

the dull days of winter and move forwards in a positive manner with a clean and tidy home. Some people believe that a cluttered home is a cluttered mind.

Begin by moving methodically around you house, tidying up general clutter piles of magazines should be dumped into the recycle bin. Take out all bottles of toiletries and ditch the empty ones or things that are unnecessarily cluttering the area up. Shower curtains and rubber bath mats could be left to soak in a bleach solution, again finish the room of by cleaning blinds, windows and floors.

The rest of the house will be relatively easy, start by moving all furniture and hoovering beneath it. Wash ornaments down in a mild washing up liquid solution. Go around your home and clean pictures with a microfiber cloth. Take a damp cloth and wipe down all the woodwork, if necessary a natural solution can be made from a small amount of olive oil, vinegar and lemon juice. A feather duster on a stick will help you to reach light fittings and cobwebs in the corners of the room.

Curtains will benefit from being dry cleaned because general smells can get stuck in curtains, a clean set of drapes will brighten up a room and leave the place smelling lovely. Windows should all be cleaned; dirty windows can make the cleanest of homes look and feel dirty.

The final job to complete your spring cleaning is to do the floors, wooden floors or laminate are best tackled with a good steaming. New steamers are now available that also use an antibacterial solution for a deeper clean. Carpets should be last as you will have trodden all over them in the previous cleaning jobs. Cleaning your carpets by hand can be a lengthy job and it is a gruelling task in with you need to scrubbing them, wait for them to dry and then hoover them.
