Improvements Made From Nissan Hardbody To Nissan Navara Engine

Originally manufactured and marketed as Nissan Frontier, Nissan Navara was introduced in 1998. It is commonly known as D22, first generation Navara, and D40, second generation. Both are successors of original D21 series also known as Nissan Hardbody. D21 or Nissan Hardbody was launched in 1986 and was considered small truck whereas its second generation, Navara, is considered mid sized truck and was produced from 1998 till 2005. D22 series can be considered the first generation Navara as serious modifications in design and frame of D21 series were made. Navara is also known as Frontier in US, it became first pickup that was offered in 4 door body style in US market. Nissan introduced Navara with different badges in different markets around the globe; in its home market it was called Datsun, in Europe it was called Pick Up and in Middle East it was called Winner.

First generation Navara was offered either in four speed auto, four speed manual or five speed manual gearbox configurations. Nissan launched Navara with varying engine capacities both in petrol and diesel. In petrol, engines 3.3 litre V6 supercharged and normal along with 2.4 litre basic engine was offered. In diesel, 2.5, 2.7, 3.0 and 3.2 litre engine capacities were launched. Though still a mid sized pick up truck, Second generation Navara, also known as D40 series, resembles a lot with Nissan Titan, companys full sized truck. Second generation include models built from 2004 till present.

As of 2009 Suzuki also launched Navara as Suzuki Equator pick up truck, with minor design alterations. Second generation Navara has 2.5, 3.0 and 4.0 litre engine capacities and comes with options for five speed auto, five speed manual or six speed manual gearboxes. As of 2011 Nissan Navara has won numerous coveted awards including Power and Associates Best Quality award in mid sized pick up truck category and five star safety rating from NHTSA of USA.

Navara also garnered positive reviews from major online auto reviewing sites, among which New Car Net praised Navara for having big storage capacity, better build quality and above average towing power; Auto Express on the other hand admired Navara for its chunkier diesel engine along with its boldness in introducing major style changes in its exterior and interior. Finally Van User extolled about Navaras massive V6, slip differentials, seven speed auto gearbox and thunderous noise of its engine. These reviews are testament to the fact that Nissan Navara has come a long way from its humble beginnings as Hardbody.
