Improving Global Decision-making - Making The World A Better Place In 5 Steps

Many people think that they do not have the ability to change the world

, which can be frustrating. However, we could potentially change the world into a more democratic place in just five steps - this article will explain how.

Step 1: Establish A World Parliament

The United Nations is the highest level of governance in the world and the only one that does not have some form of parliament. The Security Council in its current form is actually lacking a great deal of democracy - and this is where some of the most important decisions are made affecting the world. As such, we need to implement a structure which we can rely upon to be democratic and a true representation of the citizens of the world. We could call this body the United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA).

Step 2: Nurture a Public Mind Shift

Many people today are moving to a higher level of thinking where they see themselves not just as individuals or national citizens but also as global citizens. We should encourage this public mind shift - part of the result of this could be the successful formation of the UNPA.

Step 3: Creating a New Global Political Philosophy based upon Conflict Resolution

From this mind shift, we can create a new global political philosophy, which will have moved on from the old thinking of the last millennium.

Step 4: Changing Global Law-making

It is evident that international law today is just not sufficient for a truly global decision making - we therefore need to move beyond national sovereignty and replace it with global law.

Step 5: A Transformed System of Global Governance

We can then achieve a transformed system of global governance whereby we have a democratic system run by the people for the people. We can have a new form of democratic leadership by the people of the world, representing the voice of the people.

These steps would certainly change the world in a positive way. They would create a world in which every person is treated as a citizen of the world, with the democratic representation to ensure that their voice is heard on a global level.
