. These components are among those that are considered as part of modern technological advancements but they are not really that complicated or totally new.

Kitchen splashbacks products are basically tempered glass mainly intended as a decorative component. Some minor modifications in terms of iron and other mineral contents may be done during the manufacturing process in order to provide colorful gloss or tint. In most cases, the different color schemes are achieved by slightly changing the refractive index of the glass.

Some manufacturers also incorporate certain designs such as floral patterns in the splashback designs.

Easy to install

Unlike the typical ceramic tiles, splashback materials are available as large panels that may measure up to 2.4 meters in height and 5 meters in length. These large sizes meant that it may only take several pieces to cover an entire kitchen wall. They are also easy to cut using industrial diamond cutters.

Glass splashbacks can be cut into different shapes and sizes that will best fit the area intended to be covered. Their large sizes also make them ideal as covers for kitchen counter-tops. They may also be used to fit the surface area of a wooden dining table. Since they are semi-transparent, they can accentuate the natural grains of a wooden dining tables or the marble grains of a kitchen counter-top.

Tougher than ceramic tiles

Since splashback panels are manufactured as toughened glass, they are highly resistant to both impact and heat. They cannot easily shatter even at temperature as high as 200 degree Celcius. When installed on a wall or counter-top, they can effectively serve as protection against impacts, scratches and moisture.

By comparison, ceramic tiles are more fragile than splashbacks.

This is the main reason why ceramic tiles cannot be manufactured at the same sizes as their glass counter parts. Ceramic tiles can easily break in their own weights if they are manufactured at the same sizes as glass alternative.

Good value for money

The kitchen splashbacks products and other similar products found elsewhere in Australia might be slightly more expensive than traditional ceramic tiles and wooden panels but they are more cost-effective in the long run. For one, they are relatively easier to install. Homeowners can install them as DIY projects. The labor cost can be minimized in this manner.

On the other hand, glass splashbacks are tougher than other types of panelings in terms of impact resistance, scratch resistance and heat resistance. These characteristics make them very durable, requiring less maintenance or periodic replacements.
