Improving The Speed Of Your Office Computer
The first step to ensuring the health and speed of your computer is to take preventative measures against viruses
. Everyone in the world goes on the web for work, information, shopping, entertainment, etc.
Everyone with a computer should buy and install an anti-virus before accessing the internet, because unprotected computers are at a high risk of being attacked by a virus, spyware or malware. Computers at work, on a network are the most important machines to protect.
If your work computer is infected with a virus, it will not only affect that machine, but all other computers on the network. This means that not only will all of your work and files be lost, but everyone else's will be too.
Viruses can also make your computer crash, which means that it will be useless and you will have to buy a new computer. This will not only be frustrating for you, but for your employees and clients whose information you lost.
Install an anti-virus immediately after purchasing your computer to avoid a lot of frustration, time, and money. Most anti-virus software performs are easy to install and use, and will automatically perform daily scans that will alert you of any attacks or weaknesses in your computer that could potentially allow a virus to infect your computer.
So after you install the software, you will not have to worry about being attacked, because your program will take care of the problem before anything happens. After the software is installed, most problems can be avoided if you follow the on-screen suggestions of which sites to not visit or software to download.
When you first buy your personal computer you are amazed with how fast it works and gets tasks done, but as time goes by it seems to get slower and slower. There is nothing wrong with your computer; you just need to do some quick maintenance to bring it back up to speed.
One of the first things you should do after you purchase your new computer is to delete any un-necessary programs off of the hard drive. Computers come with several pre-installed programs that you will never use, and most are just demos that you have to buy to get the full, usable version of the program.
These are easy to uninstall, and will free up quite a bit of RAM space allowing you to have more room for other programs that you actually will use, and will make your computer perform faster. Some of those pesky programs include Picture and Video editor demos.
Unless you are planning to upgrade to the full version, get rid of it because media programs take up the most amount of space on your hard drive. To remove any unwanted programs, simply go the Control Panel via the Start menu.
Once in the Control Panel, click on "Add/Remove Programs" and sort through the list of programs on your hard drive. Find the unnecessary or unused programs and click on "Uninstall/Remove" to get that program off of your hard drive.
Removing excess programs that aren't necessary for your computer and you don't use can free up some much needed space on your hard drive and allow your computer to run other programs more quickly and easily. This will save you quite a bit of time while running your business, and will make what you do easier throughout the day.
You should also make sure your work computers are hooked up to a network that is specific to your company and your company only. Being connected to a network can allow easy communication, faster web surfing speeds, and easier access to all office machinery.
Your office network can not only connect to the web, but also to printers, fax machines, telephones, and other computers. This can make it easier and faster to run your business; allowing you to send print jobs from other rooms, grab files from other computers to yours, and fax a memo-all from your own computer.
All of these steps will make your office computer and the computers of your employees work faster. It is important to make sure you get the job done properly, so hire a professional to do these things for you if you are not fully capable of doing it by yourself.
