Improving the salon experience for customers
These are difficult economic conditions to be operating a business of any kind
, so whether you're a small independent salon owner or a large salon group, there are no doubt many challenges that you face.
One of those challenges could be in trying to attract new customers, prising them away from salons that they currently use. Or perhaps you're noticing a lot of attrition among your own client base.
In both circumstances, there will no doubt be a temptation to cut prices or offer discounts. However, in the current financial market, that may not be a feasible step. Instead, it may be better to increase rates, but offer an improved experience to the people who visit the salon.
One of the ways to do this is by renovating the look and feel of your salon with new furniture or improving the levels of service by acquiring better equipment. With the right additions to your salon, you could transform the experience customers have with you. Your existing customers will no doubt appreciate the enhanced offering, not to mention making recommendations to their friends. You may attract other new customers through gaining some press coverage about your overhaul or by simply arresting people's attention as they pass the salon.
With that in mind, here are five ways in which you may be able to improve what you currently have:
1. Depending on budget, you may only be able to afford a small change to begin with. Why not start with your chairs. If they've seen better days, why not invest - and I do mean invest, because they will most likely repay you in the end - in new chairs for the styling area.
2. Turn your waiting area into a welcome area. Do your customers have a comfortable reception area to relax in? Is it sociable? By buying the right furniture, you can make the experience more than simply waiting to be served.
3. Upgrade your equipment and attract a younger audience. If it is the younger customer you are looking for, with all their disposable income, then why not provide them with styles created with the latest cutting edge (ahem) equipment?
4. Consider new decor. One of the biggest complaints people have about hair salons is that they start to look dated after a while. But given that beauty and style is what your business is all about, surely its time your salon reflected that?
5. If you own or run a chain of salons, then you may be in the market for a more dramatic change. Why not consider a complete transformation - after all, that's what people do with their hair - and revamp your salons with new styling areas, welcoming areas, furniture, wash areas and equipment. Make a big impression and you'll retain a loyal customer base for many years to come.
Whether you are looking for
beauty salon equipment or
hairdressing furniture, make a list of what you'd like to change about your salon and start looking at the products that are on the market.
