Inception, One Of The Finest Movies Ever Made

Christopher Nolan is a person who firmly believes in the quality of the script rather than the star cast of it

. He is known for his offbeat and complex scripts which he delivers at ease. His earlier ventures include Memento (2000), Insomnia (2002), the Prestige (2006) and his retake on the famous Batman franchise (2005, 2008 and 2012).

Post the success of The Dark Knight (2008), he made a contract with Warner Bros. worth seven digits to direct Inception. The filming for the movie started in 2009. It released on 16th of July 2010 and fetched him accolades from all parts of the world.

The star cast of the movie includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy and others. The cast and crew gave their heart and soul to get the real feel of the scenes.

The movie deals with a complex theme. It questions the existence of the worlds worst parasite. The dream is what he refers here. It is based on an idea, where people share space in their dream, which indirectly means access to ones sub-conscious mind. Will they use it or abuse it? The major portion of the movie revolves around the dream and scenes from reality and dream cross over each other. The script becomes clear as the movie nears the climax.

The plot Dom Cobb (Leonardo) and his partner Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) are known for their corporate surveillance by using dream as a medium to infiltrate into the sub conscious minds of the targets to extract secret facts. Saito is a powerful Japanese businessman who wants his enemys ailing power corporation to be broken up. He hires Cobb to plant this idea into the mind of his competitor Maurice Fischer. Saito promises to clear murder charges which were filed against Cobb on successful completion of the mission. Cobb suffers from memories of his deceased wife which poses a threat in completing his mission. Will Cobb succeed or not forms the rest of the story.

The movie shows some interesting strategies that Cobb uses during his mission. It introduced the concept of dream within a dream to plant the seed of an idea. The dream could only be awakened by what is known as a kick. The movie also portrays the protagonists carrying the Totem. It is an object used by the extractors to differentiate between reality and dream. The movie ends with the spinning totem as the screen fades out; the viewer is left stunned.

Inception was received positively across the world and was also acclaimed critically. Filmed with a budget of $160,000,000, the revenue generated was an amazing $292,576,195 across the United States.

Inception swept many awards in various technical categories like The Academy awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing. The film however was defeated by The Social Network and The Kings Speech at The Oscars, Golden Globe and The BAFTAS. The film won the 2011 Bradbury award for Best Dramatic Production and Hugo award for The Best Dramatic presentation, which are considered to be the highest honors for a science fiction or a fantasy film.
