Incorporating Complex Mosaic Tile Patterns Into Your Room Design
Mosaic tile patterns can really change the focus of a room
. You can use glass mosaic tiles in the planned renovation of your kitchen or bathroom, or even maybe an outdoor foyer space to give your room more of a designated focal point.
The thing with mosaics is that they are designed to give the room a sense of artistry; they are meant to draw the eyes toward them and to create a standalone piece that works in tandem with the rest of the dcor. You could use them as a backsplash for your stove or sink, or as the center of the floor; these two popular locations are meant to break monotony in an otherwise standard wall or flooring pattern.
The transition between the rest of the tiling and your mosaic needs to be very clear. You can have a natural progression or you can completely break the pattern and form a distinct border from one to the other. Either way, the colors and the type of tiles used should significantly differ from those in the rest of the room. Of course, this does not mean they should clash, just that they complement. They still need to fit into the theme, which then begs the question, "what kind of design does this room need?"
For a villa you could consider a mix between clay and glass kitchen tiles. Spanish and Tuscan tile designs use oranges, reds, and off-whites. One option is to create scenes by painting on the tiles. If you prefer the solid colors, then try and select tile sets with the reds in different shades. The mixing of dark and light hues adds variety to an otherwise monotone room.
In a foyer, you should use the tiles to draw the guests into the home. You could even emphasize the pattern by placing a chandelier above it, or have it lead to a staircase. And as for the outdoors, you can use mosaics to line a pool or bar area. Bright blues, sunny yellows, and brick reds are common options for outdoor seating and swimming areas.
Use creativity to select the best tiles for the job. Take inspiration from the room dcor and then do your best to branch off into new design territory. The whole point to including a mosaic is for the sake of switching things up a little bit. Take this opportunity to incorporate bold aesthetics into your home.
